1993 Tyrrell 021 F1
Chassis No. 03
No price quotation back »
After using the 020 (B and C-spec) for more than two years, the car had become outdated and so a completely new car, the 021, was introduced for the second half of the 1993 season. Designed by Mike Coughlan, who had joined Tyrrell as the new head of design in 1992, the car now featured a mono shock absorber at the back and was powered by a OX10A V10 engine by Judd/Yamaha.

Introducing a new car during a season always proves difficult and this also held true for 021. Ukyo Katayama and Andea de Cesaris, the two Tyrrell pilots for 1993, found the car did not handle perfectly to their liking. This was also accompanied by rather poor reliability. It was not until Coughlan left the team and the genius Harvey Postlethwaite returned from Ferrari near the end of the season, that the car had its first reasonable result.

This specific car was driven in 1993 by Andrea de Cesaris, who achieved the following results with this car: Grand Prix of Monaco, 10th position

Grand Prix of Canada, retired

Grand Prix of France, 15th position

Grand Prix of England, not qualified

Grand Prix of Germany, retired

Grand Prix of Hungary, 11th position

Grand Prix of Belgium, retired

Grand Prix of Italy, 13th position

Grand Prix of Portugal, 12th position

Grand Prix of Japan, retired

Grand Prix of Australia, 13th position

After the 1993 season, chassis 03 has been painted for various sponsorship presentations into the new racing colors of Tyrrell for the 1994 season. This has been confirmed in writing by Ken Tyrell and the car remained since then in the 1994 livery.

The car was bought a few years later from Tyrrell and raced since then only one successfull season in the Euroboss F1 series in 2001. At that time it finished seven out of eight races, including two podium finishes (1st place at Rockingham, 3rd place at Le Mans) and finished 6th overall in the championship.

Today the car is presented is perfect running order and is fitted with a correct OX10A V10 (Judd GV) engine, producing more than 750bhp at 13.500rpm. The engine is in good condition and covered around 875km and is combined with the original 6-speed manual gearbox.

The car will be sold with an interesting spare package which includes the starter and pre-heating unit, lots of body parts, gear sets, brake parts and ots of small mechanical parts.
